I joined Star Fitness in the end of 2011, after being a member of several other fitness centers before that. At that time I was almost 53kg and even though I wanted to reduce my weight, I had no clues how to do it. I searched on the internet and found that there were so many methods to lose weight. I had also consulted with many trainers before, but most of the advice was to not to eat after 6:00pm, have a light dinner and work out harder… quite general advice, which I followed but it didn’t help me lose weight. However, from talking to them, I learned how to increase my strength and get fit with the exercises that would burn more calories than just using the cardio machines. After a while, I was stronger, but still didn’t lose any weight.
Until I met coach Phil Kelly in the beginning of 2013. After talking with him for a trial session, I was opened with so much knowledge about fat loss and improving fitness. What to eat and when to eat are one of the most important factors to losing weight. The exercises will help to burn the calories, but I should make my body the calorie-burning machine. It was valuable advice that I never forget. So, besides the compound exercises to help me to improve fitness, he also gave me some nutrition recommendations that would help me to lose some weight. After just 6 weeks following his program, I lost 4kg. That was a big achievement to me as I never thought that I could make it. My family and my friends were very surprised with my change. Now, I am more confident in choosing nicer clothes for me, clothes that I thought I could never wear before.
Now, besides maintaining coach Phil’s program, I join some more classes like core condition of coach Quyen, whose body is another inspiration for me, as well as other Yoga classes from other coaches. Coach Nhien is another trainer who I have a lot of conversation with and who gives me quite a lot of encouragement to visit the gym more often. His advice is more how to make a compound workout more efficient and especially to improve my posture.
However, the advice from the coaches wouldn’t have worked out if I myself hadn’t had the commitment to follow them and reminded myself to maintain what I learnt. Commitment and patience – they are my two key successful factors to have the better look today. I will keep up this rhythm for sure not only to keep myself lean and fit, but stronger and healthier.
Star Fitness is very convenient for me as it’s close to my house and I go there to exercise after work. I love the atmosphere… everyone is always friendly and helpful – both the other members and staff. Since the day I started, I simply thought that I worked out just to keep me healthy. For this purpose Star Fitness is great because of all the excellent classes like Yoga, Zumba, Belly Dance, etc.
